Brother Bobby Lester - Father
Brother Gilbert Reynolds - Son
Psalms 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
Pilgrim has lost two (2) of their favorite sons who were giants among us. GOD deemed it necessary to call from labor to reward the father, Brother Bobby Lester and his son, Brother Gilbert Reynolds, within days of each other. The father and son labored in the vineyard of Pilgrim as faithful servants who demonstrated CHRIST’s Spirit in their walk.
Brother Bobby Lester came to Pilgrim in 1968 and married the love of his life, Sister Dorothy, and stayed with her until death parted them more than 30 years ago. Brother Lester was a good son, who assisted his mother in caring for his younger siblings. And he was a good soldier, who served his country in the United States Army. He never held an office in the church but never said no to any request that was made of him, while serving under the administrations of three (3) pastors: Reverend Geroy G. Osborne; Reverend Hilliard C.Hudson and our current Pastor, Reverend Corwin D. Lasenby, Sr.
Like father, like son. Brother Gilbert Reynolds reinstated his membership on June 30, 2013, and allowed his quiet spirit to speak for him. He did not mince words, but served his GOD with excellency and humbleness of heart, whether in the Feeding Ministry with the Tribe of Benjamin, or driving the church van on Sundays to bring members to church.
Psalms 116:15 says, "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of HIS saints.” GOD values the death of HIS people, because in their passing HE welcomes them home. And because Brother Bobby Lester and Brother Gilbert Reynolds trusted in GOD, their leaving this life is precious in HIS sight. Rest in peace, giants.
